Smirking is free AI tools that run in your browser. The AI runs on your device, so there is no signup and nothing is uploaded.
What this is
Smirking is a small set of everyday tools for images, video, audio and PDFs. Every tool runs in the page you are already on, in your browser. There is no signup, no daily limit and no watermark on the result.
AI on your device
The AI model downloads once from Hugging Face and is cached by your browser. From then on it runs on your own processor, so your file is never sent to a server, and no copy of it exists anywhere but on your device.
The trade is speed and memory: a laptop does the work faster than a phone, and the first run is slower while the model downloads. Devices without a suitable graphics chip use the Fast model, which runs on the processor.
Models and licences
BiRefNet_lite — background removal, main model. MIT licence, from the public ONNX community mirror on Hugging Face.
IS-Net (general use) — background removal on devices without a suitable graphics chip. MIT licence, int8 build by imgly, from the public ONNX mirror on Hugging Face.
Each model keeps its own licence. Nothing is trained on your files.
